Sivipa, Moscatel de Setubal 2017
- Bottle Size
- Wine Type
Although started by a group of growers, SIVIPA is now the company name enveloping all wines made by the Cordoso family 30 miles south of Lisbon, Portugal. Although Filipe is in control as winemaker, the vineyards are still owned and maintained by his siblings and cousins, distributed as inheritance from previous generations. The main winery is Quinta do Piloto in Palmela. The Moscatel de Setubal (Muscat of Alexandria) grapes used in this sweet wine are grown on north-facing, limestone soils, at the eastern end of the Sierra da Arrabida. On the nose and palate there’s dried fruit, caramel, spices, florals and especially citrus orange peel. It has classic, sweet marmalade flavours, and the 140 g/L residual sugar is balanced by great acidity. Serve between 8-14C. It’s delightful paired with fruity, citrus puddings.
