Tucked between the Breede River and the Langeberg mountain range in South Africa lies Bon Courage Wine Estate. The history of the estate goes back to 1927 when the Bruwers bought the farm. It was in October 1983 that owner, André Bruwer, changed the farm’s name from Goedemoed to the French translation, Bon Courage, in honour of their French ancestors, and registered Bon Courage as an estate. For this wine, Shiraz fermentation took place for 8-10 days on the skins. After the grapes were cold soaked for 2 days, yeast was added. Cabernet Sauvignon juice was separated from the skins and left to ferment dry in stainless steel tanks for 3 days. The wine was then oak matured in 2nd and 3rd fill French oak barrels for 12 months. It has aromas of tobacco combined with walnuts and berries. Oak gives this blend body and a smooth texture. Drink with roasts, steak, oxtail and poultry dishes.
