Susana Balbo, Signature Torrontés 2021

After several years of experimentation with varying toast levels and various barrel producers, Susana Balbo has created a Torrontés that takes this varietal into a whole new sphere of influence from a parcel of vines in Paraje Altamira in Mendoza’s Uco Valley. The exuberant floral and fruity notes have become delicately muted and are complemented with subtle oak influences. Although still distinctly Torrontés, this actually smells a bit like a Viognier – think the New World’s version of Condrieu.
