Knightor Winery, Carpe Diem (White)

Knightor Winery outside St Austell makes premium quality, limited production wines from grapes grown in English vineyards and their own vines at Portscatho and Seaton on the south Cornish coast. They planted their first vines in 2007 and made their first wine in 2010.

The grapes were picked by hand and fermented cool, predominantly in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness and fruit characters. A small percentage of the wines are fermented in barrel to add depth and roundness to the palate. After fermentation, Knightor frequently stirs the lees, providing further smoothness and mouthfeel.

It’s typically English in style, displaying delicate fresh fruit and floral hedgerow characters on the nose. It displays great balance with a medium fruit intensity of medlars, white plums and fresh grapes that express the perfect ripeness. On the palate it’s fresh and well rounded giving generous apple and citrus flavours. The grapes are Madeleine Angevine, Bacchus, Reichensteiner and Seyval Blanc.
