Norrel Robertson is a master of wine, consulting and making wine around the world. The Scotsman also owns a little patch of land, high up in the rugged landscape of Calatayud, where he tends to old Garnacha vines in poor mineral soils. The grapes for this wine are grown on the single estate of ‘Finca del Val’ situated at 950 metres from twos parcel of Syrah situated on ‘cantos’ or pudding stones. The wine has a light purple rim and pronounced cassis and cigar box aromas with flowers and violets. Full and unctuous on the palate with intense black fruit characters and ripe tannins, well integrated oak and a long, rich finish. Perfect with tapas. Dos Dedos de Frente is a Spanish phrase meaning lacking in common sense or intelligence. The winery name, El Escocés Volante, means the Flying Scotsman.
