Italian winemaker tasting November 2026

On Thursday 12th November, starting at 6pm, we’ll be hosting not one - but two Italian winemakers in the bar for a tasting of eight different wines. 

One of our newest suppliers - Ivo Varbanov - is bringing Alessia Natali (owner of Le Thadee winery in Umbria) and Edoardo Scanavino (owner and winemaker at Montelio winery in Lombardy - pictured below) down from London on the train for the night.

We’ll be trying five wines from Montelio and three from Le Thadee. 

The latter winery was founded in 2018 and is located near Montefalco in Umbria - famous for its Sagrantino di Montefalco. That wine (2019 vintage) will be the final wine of the tasting - and we’ll also be trying a Trebbiano Spoletino (white) 2022 and a Montefalco Rosso 2019 from them (Sangiovese/Sagrantino/Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon). 

Montelio is based in Oltrepò Pavese, Lombardy, in northwest Italy and was founded in 1803. From them we’ll be trying a Pinot Nero 2022, Barbera 2023, Oltrepò Pavese Rosso 2022 (Barbera/Croatina/Uva Rara), Rosso Reserva Solarolo 2021 (Barbera/Croatina) and Rosso Reserva 2016.
