Winery: Chateau Vieux Moulin is based in the heart of Corbières, the centre of the Languedoc. The land is hot, and dry, which can be hard, but also rewarding. In many ways, it resembles the Carignan grape, which is the emblematic grape variety of this region.
The winery owners Alexandre and Laurence, who bought the estate in 1987, are the 7th generation of the family to run the family estate. It's nearly 200 years old, established in the area of Montbrun. They have almost 70 acres of land, entirely certified organic. The estate was traditionally run as a polyculture, which included livestock, cereals, some market gardening, and of course the vines.
Alexandre They and his wife Laurence say they strive to make wines which reflect their values. Wines to share, full of fruit and flavour, full bodied, and honest.
Winemaking: The Blanc sur Rouge, or "Blouge" from Vieux Moulin is an organic low sulphur blend of 70% Chardonnay and 30% Carignan.
Tasting Notes: This drinks like a light crushable, slippery, chillable summer red. Juicy, light wild cherry, rosehip, nectarine and spice notes.
