Tsiakkas Commandaria, Cyprus

£38.00

Description

Tsiakkas Winery is located in Pelendri village in the Limassol region of Cyprus. Costas Tsiakkas established the winery in 1988 which he runs with his wife Maria. They own 5 hectares of fantastic mountainous vineyards which are located at an altitude of 1,000-1,400m. The winery emphasises the production of high quality wines from indigenous varieties. This sweet wine is 98% Xynisteri and 2% Mavro.

The grapes are laid down on tents for 2 weeks for sun drying in the region of Commandaria. The vinification is carried out with temperature-controlled vats. The fermentation is stopped naturally and the wine is aged for five years in oak barrels. It has intense fruit aromas of sweet bergamot, mature apricot and figs. It is accompanied with a nutty and toffee aftertaste. A well balanced wine with a harmony between fruitiness, acidity and sweetness.

Drink with pudding: chocolate dessert, lemon pie or as an after dinner drink.
