Schwarztrauber, Spatburgunder (Pinot Noir)
- Bottle Size
- Wine Type
Gerhard Schwarztrauber, after studying winemaking and falling in love with organic viticulture, convinced his parents to convert the farm. In 1986 Weingut Schwarztrauber joined the Bioland association, the largest organic association in Germany, and Gerhard officially took over in 1994. Spätburgunder – or Pinot Noir – excels in the Pfalz’s cool climate and sandy soils. The approach to winemaking is measured and minimalistic with little intervention in the winery. There are fragrant red fruits and a hint of violet on the nose and this Spätburgunder balances ripe fruit and sweet spice. It’s characterised by the smooth, concentrated finish. In summer, put it on ice and enjoy slightly chilled.
