Mád, dry Furmint, Tokaji 2016



Mád Wine KFT is intent on putting dry Furmint on the map. Somewhere between Loire Chenin Blanc and Chablis in style, this Furmint is refreshing with an underlying minerality from the local volcanic soils. The vineyards for this wine sit on the south and western sides of the hill overlooking the village of Mád and are planted on predominantly red clay, zeolite Malota and quartz rhyolite soils. This is well structured and balanced, and is an elegant blend of apricot and peaches, laurel and bay with a warming, ginger spice and white pepper. Just off dry in style with great structure. It goes well with roast pork or as an aperitif because of its low alcohol and has a glass closure.
