Domaine Zind Humbrecht, Gewürztraminer, Herrenweg de Turckheim VV VT

The Herrenweg de Turckheim is a homogenous gravelly terroir that covers about 60ha on the plain nestled between Wintzenheim and Turckheim in Alsace. Benefiting from maximum sunshine, especially in the evenings with the sun setting much later, the climate is very dry and the valley winds often have an important drying effect on both the soil and the vines. The largest part of the Herrenweg vineyard is planted with Gewurztraminer, a grape variety that likes the heat generated by the pebbles in the soil. This Vielles Vignes (old vine) Vendange Tardive (late harvest) wine is bright yellow in colour. The nose shows great aromatic intensity with fresh exotic fruits (lychee), citrus zests and an overall sensation of maturity while the botrytis remains discreet. The palate is an unctuous continuation of the nose. It finishes on an attractive round sweet mouthfeel, superbly balanced with a nice citrusy acidity.
