Description
Headed by the hand and palate of critically-acclaimed Australian oenologist Mark Haisma, the new experimental project Dagon Clan started as a true ‘clan’ of three winemakers determined to change the common perception of Romanian wines. Dagon Clan works in the renowned region of Dealul Mare, first documented as a wine-growing location back in the 14th century.
This is a Decanter 90 point stunner. Biodynamically grown grapes give a medium to full-bodied red wine boasting layers of fruits and flavours; fresh, jammy blueberry and blackcurrant, plums and concentrated cooked blackberry, with a hint of liquorice and spices. Dagon Jar is aged in Romanian oak barrels, which adds complexity and structure to the long finish. Only the Pinot Noir element of this wine is biodynamic. The Feteasca Neagra portion is organically farmed.
